Countless times have I sought some muse
To inspire hope for beauty and truth
But O what a foolish man am I
When thou hast been here from the start

Do not think that thou missed my gaze
For mine eyes longingly sought only thee
But alas fickle fates do enjoy their games
Keeping love's dear truth hidden from me

I wish that thou couldst comprehend
How and what I truly think of thee
For there are no words of poet nor man
That can capture heart's true thoughts

Yet sadly I know that I am not unique
For Apollo himself would stop the sun-
In summer, if thou didst wish it so,
And yet the world would be no darker

The full moon would remain in the heavens,
Illuminating Poseidon's silver shores-
Anemoi's winds might persist, if only
to prevent Elysium's heroes' jealousy

Each night I wish and pray for thee
Hoping for things that might one day be
But I remain Chronos' humble slave
Patiently awaiting each new dawn

And although, without fail, a new day comes
Aurora brings with her what she may
And no man, no matter how clever or wise,
Can know thy heart's unbridled desires

Still I thank mighty god-king Zeus
And Fortune's gracious gift to me
For the few days I spent with thee
Have reminded me of life's true joy
